Why do I need a Breath Builder ?

Ineffective breathing can affect your playing in many ways. It can, for example, give problems with embouchure which affects the sound, phrasing difficulties that lead to unmusical playing and bad intonation.

Therefore, it is important while teaching not to forget "breath building".

The book Breath Building was inspired by the American tuba player and teacher Arnold Jacobs who was a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He has helped a great number of professional wind players and singers. The central idea of his method depends on the realization that the breathing function is partly unconscious. It is therefore not so much precise knowledge as the working of a number of exercices - with and without aids - which can develop efficient breathing.
